Good day everyone. Oh give thanks unto the Lord for He is good yes He is good and worthy of our praise. What I’m going to do is set up a banquet today and also let you know that we may have some leftovers for tomorrow on the effects of the Word of God on the non-believer and the believer. First will be the non-believer.
Today’s Prayer
Father, sometimes we don’t listen, or don’t comprehend, or almost subconsciously tune out Your words, thinking, “those words must be for someone else.” Forgive us Lord, for often being like a flock of ducks that listened to a Pastor’s sermon, and heard him tell them that they could fly! Then on the way out of the church, they said to each other: “Wasn’t that a good sermon?” – as they waddled on home. Oh Lord, help us to see that unless we listen to Your Word daily, and unless we take it in, seek the Holy Spirit’s guidance, and let it penetrate the depths of our spirit, then after hearing Your Word we will be no different than the ducks. If we are to increase our faith, then we must be open to growth, for You have a greater vision for us than to see us aimlessly waddle through our lives. Open our eyes, Lord, and let us desire all that You have for us. In the wonderful name of Jesus I pray, Amen.
Let’s eat.
The Word of God:
It’s Action on the Unconverted
Hammer to Break
Jeremiah 23:29
Does not my word burn like fire?” says the Lord. “Is it not like a mighty hammer that smashes a rock to pieces?
Conscience Reached; A Sword to Smite
Hebrews 4:12
For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.
Heart made Tender; A Mirror to Show
James 1:19-27
Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry. Human anger does not produce the righteousness God desires. So get rid of all the filth and evil in your lives, and humbly accept the word God has planted in your hearts, for it has the power to save your souls. But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. For if you listen to the word and don’t obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror. You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like. But if you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don’t forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it. If you claim to be religious but don’t control your tongue, you are fooling yourself, and your religion is worthless. Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you.
