WISDOM FOR LIFE 11-08-24

The word ‘WISDOM’ drop into my spirit as I was searching for something to share with you today. I searched the scriptures for the right nuggets for the times we are in and I ended up in Ecclesiastes 7. Put on your bib and get ready for some good spiritual food.

Today’s Prayer

Father, I thank you for being with me through another day and night. I thank you for answered prayer. And I thank you for continuing to love me in spite of myself. Today I’m intensely aware of people who need people.  That’s right, we all need each other. No man is an island and can stand alone. You know, because you created us with a need for fellowship and companionship. I pray that every person participating in this devotional time with you, and that every person who is in desperate need of this provision today, will be blessed with at least one very special person and with a network of good, Christian brothers and sisters to meet that need of fellowship and companionship. I pray that each one of us will look at ourselves and ask, am I being a good friend to others? Am I showing caring, Christian concern for my fellow man? God, you are the ultimate one with whom we have fellowship and it is you who can meet needs far beyond what any human being can meet. Everyone will have the opportunity to experience that relationship with you. I pray that you will use me to be a light to those with whom I have contact with in my daily life. May you be pleased and blessed with the fellowship of those who love you. In the matchless name of Jesus I pray, Amen.

Let’s eat.

Wisdom for Life

Ecclesiastes 7:1-14

A good reputation is more valuable than costly perfume.
And the day you die is better than the day you are born.
Better to spend your time at funerals than at parties.
    After all, everyone dies—
so the living should take this to heart.
Sorrow is better than laughter,
for sadness has a refining influence on us.
A wise person thinks a lot about death,
while a fool thinks only about having a good time.

Better to be criticized by a wise person
than to be praised by a fool.
A fool’s laughter is quickly gone,
like thorns crackling in a fire.
    This also is meaningless.

Extortion turns wise people into fools,
    and bribes corrupt the heart.

Finishing is better than starting.
    Patience is better than pride.

Control your temper,
for anger labels you a fool.

10 Don’t long for “the good old days.”
    This is not wise.

11 Wisdom is even better when you have money.
Both are a benefit as you go through life.
12 Wisdom and money can get you almost anything,
but only wisdom can save your life.

13 Accept the way God does things,
for who can straighten what he has made crooked?
14 Enjoy prosperity while you can,
but when hard times strike, realize that both come from God.
Remember that nothing is certain in this life.

Quote of the Day

Laughter adds richness, texture and color to otherwise ordinary days. It is a gift, a choice, a discipline and an art. ~Tim Hansel~
