TRUST THE ARTIST 12-16-24

What a friend we have in Jesus. As I awoke this morning the question “in whom do you trust?” hit my spirit. I believe this thought arose from a discussion I had just yesterday with a troubled individual who has head knowledge of our savior, you know, can recite scripture and the whole nine yards but when it comes down to applying it to life circumstances falls short. I had to take a good inventory of myself to make sure I am not falling into that category. How about you?

Today’s Prayer

Father, I’m acutely aware of those who are sick and suffering today. I lift up the babies who have been born with deformities or medical problems that require intervention and need your healing touch. May your grace and your loving touch envelop them and their families. I pray for those who have the flu and other common viruses and illnesses that affect so many this time of year. I pray for relief of pain and symptoms and for your healing touch. I pray for those who are battling other more serious medical issues, whether heart problems, cancer, and even blood clots or diabetes that can lead to disastrous consequences. Please guide the doctors who treat these people that they will know what to do. Please help each and every afflicted one to know what to do to improve their situation–if anything. Please provide comfort and your miraculous healing power to each one in need. Thank you, God, for hearing my prayer. In Jesus’ wonderful name I pray, Amen.

Let’s eat.

TRUSTING THE ARTIST

ROMANS 8:27-28

27 And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers in harmony with God’s own will. 28 And we know that God causes everything to work together  for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.

Have you ever watched an artist paint a picture as he puts his colors on canvas? I have seen a man who can paint a beautiful painting in a half hour. He’s just splashing the colors on that canvas and mixing them. He says, “I think it needs a little more yellow.” And I say, “Man, that guy’s so good. How does he do that?” Everything just turns out good somehow. Then the guy will get some more colors and put them across the canvas I just admired. I’ll think, “You ruined it!” He put some big old splashy thing on it, and then, it just comes together; it’s a masterpiece! Sometimes we look at what God does, as He puts His colors on the canvas, and we say, “Lord, You’re really doing good.” And then suddenly God adds that paint stroke we didn’t expect, one we can’t make sense of. So, we say, “Lord! You have messed things up.” Have you ever felt that way? Have you ever asked, “God, how did You let this happen?” A person I talked to just yesterday asked that question. The painting process of God doesn’t make sense to us when we watch Him do it, but it makes sense to him. And just because things are not making sense to us doesn’t mean they don’t make sense. And just because you can’t see God working doesn’t mean God is not working.
  • What is something in your life for which you are struggling to understand God’s purpose?
  • Do you have faith that the masterpiece God is creating in your life and in the world is beautiful?

Write down the things you are struggling to make sense of in your life and in the world and bring them to God in prayer.

Quote of the Day

Do all in your power not to fall, for the strong athlete should not fall. But if you do fall, get up again at once and continue the contest. Even if you fall a thousand times…rise up again each time, and keep on doing this until the day of your death. ~Anonymous~
