Whose Son Is the Messiah 01-11-16

_ 120614 Son Of God

(CLICK THE PICTURE) Good morning and praise the Lord for this wonderful day and the chance to move forward with the gospel. I think we ought to just praise God for who He is, God all by Himself. Start fresh today because there is nothing that has happened in your life that God can’t change in the blink of an eye.

Today’s Prayer

Father, There are so many people who work so hard and give of themselves for others.  They have integrity and good character; yet, they don’t get the respect they deserve. I pray for these people, that You will bless them for all they do. I pray that You will move in their lives and that You will be the center of their focus and motivation. I pray that their friends, families, employers, government officials, whoever is a witness to their lives will appreciate them and show respect through words, kind deeds, and even monetary rewards as appropriate. May You ultimately receive glory, honor, and praise through these people and their lives. Thank You, God. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

Let’s eat.

Whose Son Is the Messiah?
Mark 12:35-40

35 Later, as Jesus was teaching the people in the Temple, he asked, “Why do the teachers of religious law claim that the Messiah is the son of David? 36 For David himself, speaking under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, said, The Lord said to my Lord, Sit in the place of honor at my right hand until I humble your enemies beneath your feet. 37 Since David himself called the Messiah ‘my Lord,’ how can the Messiah be his son?” The large crowd listened to him with great delight. 38 Jesus also taught: “Beware of these teachers of religious law! For they like to parade around in flowing robes and receive respectful greetings as they walk in the marketplaces. 39 And how they love the seats of honor in the synagogues and the head table at banquets. 40 Yet they shamelessly cheat widows out of their property and then pretend to be pious by making long prayers in public. Because of this, they will be more severely punished.”

Quote of the Day

Faith is the acknowledgment of the entire absence of all goodness in us, and the recognition of the cross as the substitute for all the want on our part. The whole work is His, not ours, from first to last.
