I would like to take the time to thank you all for the prayers you have been pouring out for my family and I. We have felt the effects of them in our lives. I ask that you would pray for those less fortunate than your self and keep them lifted up during this holiday season.
Today’s Prayer
Father, I’ve been thinking that when we commit ourselves to seeking Your will for our lives and then living it, You mean every day! You want us to be morally upright and honest and sensitive to all those who make up “our world” each day! That means at home with our families, at work, at school, in short, in all of our endeavors. You want each one who crosses our path to sense that we are “different,” to catch a glimpse of Your love flowing through us! You want our everyday living to be a fulfillment of what we say we believe on Sundays! Help us not to fail You, for if all who claim to know You would actually live by Your moral laws, we could make a difference, and restore our nation’s foundations. Give each of us who makes this commitment to You, Your wisdom, and Your sustaining strength. In the wonderful name of Jesus I pray, Amen.
Let’s eat.
Comfort for God’s People
Isaiah 40:1-11
1 “Comfort, comfort my people,” says your God.
2 “Speak tenderly to Jerusalem. Tell her that her sad days are gone and her sins are pardoned. Yes, the Lord has punished her twice over for all her sins.”
3 Listen! It’s the voice of someone shouting, “Clear the way through the wilderness for the Lord! Make a straight highway through the wasteland for our God!
4 Fill in the valleys, and level the mountains and hills. Straighten the curves, and smooth out the rough places.
5 Then the glory of the Lord will be revealed, and all people will see it together. The Lord has spoken!”
6 A voice said, “Shout!” I asked, “What should I shout?” “Shout that people are like the grass. Their beauty fades as quickly as the flowers in a field.
7 The grass withers and the flowers fade beneath the breath of the Lord. And so it is with people.
8 The grass withers and the flowers fade, but the word of our God stands forever.”
9 O Zion, messenger of good news, shout from the mountaintops! Shout it louder, O Jerusalem. Shout, and do not be afraid. Tell the towns of Judah, “Your God is coming!”
10 Yes, the Sovereign Lord is coming in power. He will rule with a powerful arm. See, he brings his reward with him as he comes.
11 He will feed his flock like a shepherd. He will carry the lambs in his arms, holding them close to his heart. He will gently lead the mother sheep with their young.
Even though you didn’t read your name or the name of your city and state in the above scripture, if you are a child of GOD the message is for you also.
Quote of the Day
We ought not to keep score of the number of times others have hurt us. God keeps records, and vengeance belongs to him. ~Lehman Strauss~
