FRIENDS OF GOD 03-29-25

Greetings everyone. I had one of those moments again today. I thought about the statement; “what a friend we have in Jesus.” I was totally taken aback by this when I thought about Him calling me friend. Give that a few minutes to marinate in your spirit.

Today’s Prayer

Father, when I think of Your son calling us (believers) friends, it blows my mind. A friend is someone that accepts you as you are and is there for you in spite of your rights and wrongs. A friend picks you up when you fall, rejoices with you in good times and helps wipe away the tears in the hard times. I come to you today on behalf of my brothers and sisters in Christ to say thank you for sending Your only son to become a friend of all mankind. I pray this in the name of Jesus, Amen.

Let’s eat.

Psalm 41

Psalm 41:1-13

Oh, the joys of those who are kind to the poor! The Lord rescues them when they are in trouble.
The Lord protects them and keeps them alive. He gives them prosperity in the land and rescues them from their enemies. The Lord nurses them when they are sick and restores them to health. “O Lord,” I prayed, “have mercy on me. Heal me, for I have sinned against you.” But my enemies say nothing but evil about me.  “How soon will he die and be forgotten?” they ask. They visit me as if they were my friends, but all the while they gather gossip, and when they leave, they spread it everywhere. All who hate me whisper about me, imagining the worst. “He has some fatal disease,” they say. “He will never get out of that bed!” Even my best friend, the one I trusted completely, the one who shared my food, has turned against me. 10 Lord, have mercy on me. Make me well again, so I can pay them back! 11 I know you are pleased with me, for you have not let my enemies triumph over me. 12 You have preserved my life because I am innocent; you have brought me into your presence forever. 13 Praise the Lord, the God of Israel, who lives from everlasting to everlasting. Amen and Amen!

Quote of the Day

The supreme test of goodness is not in the greater but in the smaller incidents of our character and practice; not what we are when standing in the searchlight of public scrutiny, but when we reach the firelight flicker of our homes; not what we are when some clarion-call rings through the air, summoning us to fight for life and liberty, but our attitude when we are called to sentry-duty in the grey morning, when the watch-fire is burning low. It is impossible to be our best at the supreme moment if character is corroded and eaten into by daily inconsistency, unfaithfulness, and besetting sin. ~Frederick Brotherton ( F. B. ) Meyer~
