Good day to ya everyone. Oh give thanks unto the Lord for He is good yes He is good and worthy of our praise. Yesterday the message was about choices. In keeping with that mindset the question of the day is where do you stand and who do you serve? The message today makes it plain.
Today’s Prayer
Father, I come before you this morning on behalf of my brothers and sisters in Christ to ask that You would rescue us from ourselves, our pride, our self- centeredness, and our “woe is me” attitude. Prod us when we are lazy, and convict us when we are wrong. Fill us with Your Holy Spirit, and enable us to be the kind of Christians we want to be, the kind that You know we can be with Your help. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
Let’s eat.
No Neutrality
Can’t serve God and Mammon
Matthew 6:24-27
“No one can serve two masters. For you will hate one and love the other; you will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money. “That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing? Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are? Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?
Can’t partake with Christ and devils
1 Corinthians 10:19-22
What am I trying to say? Am I saying that food offered to idols has some significance, or that idols are real gods? No, not at all. I am saying that these sacrifices are offered to demons, not to God. And I don’t want you to participate with demons. You cannot drink from the cup of the Lord and from the cup of demons, too. You cannot eat at the Lord’s Table and at the table of demons, too. What? Do we dare to rouse the Lord’s jealousy? Do you think we are stronger than he is?
Can’t live to self and be Christ’s Disciple
Luke 14:25-35
A large crowd was following Jesus. He turned around and said to them, “If you want to be my disciple, you must hate everyone else by comparison—your father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters—yes, even your own life. Otherwise, you cannot be my disciple. And if you do not carry your own cross and follow me, you cannot be my disciple. “But don’t begin until you count the cost. For who would begin construction of a building without first calculating the cost to see if there is enough money to finish it? Otherwise, you might complete only the foundation before running out of money, and then everyone would laugh at you. They would say, ‘There’s the person who started that building and couldn’t afford to finish it!’ “Or what king would go to war against another king without first sitting down with his counselors to discuss whether his army of 10,000 could defeat the 20,000 soldiers marching against him? And if he can’t, he will send a delegation to discuss terms of peace while the enemy is still far away. So you cannot become my disciple without giving up everything you own. “Salt is good for seasoning. But if it loses its flavor, how do you make it salty again? Flavorless salt is good neither for the soil nor for the manure pile. It is thrown away. Anyone with ears to hear should listen and understand!”
Quote of the Day
I know I can’t do a thing to earn my salvation but now that I am His, I will do everything in my power to show Him how much I love him and I live to please the One I love who has transformed me with HIS love.
