Good day everyone and rejoice in the Lord always and again I say rejoice. As I sit here I’m urged in the spirit to share scripture that shows just some of the nature of our God. Be blessed today and always.

Today’s Prayer

Father, I have a burning in my spirit to pray for parents and their children this morning. You never promised that life would be easy, or that patience in parenting would be a “natural.” In fact, You never implied that parents and their children would always live in harmony, did You? But You did promise to be with us and to hear our prayers. Teach us, Lord, to pray together daily, both as a family and separately. Help us each to learn to start the day with prayer, to seek Your guidance, and to sense Your leading, for fear that we run ahead of You, and bring on our own problems. Each day, let us find some blessings to count. Open our eyes to sense Your protection and care. Then when we gather together at night as a family, let us share our experiences of the day, and the many evidences of Your care and kindness. Thank You Father. In Jesus’ holy name we pray. Amen.

Let’s eat.

Our God

God of Great Kindness

Nehemiah 9:17-20

They refused to obey and did not remember the miracles you had done for them. Instead, they became stubborn and appointed a leader to take them back to their slavery in Egypt! But you are a God of forgiveness, gracious and merciful, slow to become angry, and rich in unfailing love. You did not abandon them, even when they made an idol shaped like a calf and said, ‘This is your god who brought you out of Egypt!’ They committed terrible blasphemies. “But in your great mercy you did not abandon them to die in the wilderness. The pillar of cloud still led them forward by day, and the pillar of fire showed them the way through the night. You sent your good Spirit to instruct them, and you did not stop giving them manna from heaven or water for their thirst.

To All; God of Salvation

Psalm 65:1-5

What mighty praise, O God, belongs to you in Zion. We will fulfill our vows to you, for you answer our prayers. All of us must come to you. Though we are overwhelmed by our sins, you forgive them all. What joy for those you choose to bring near, those who live in your holy courts. What festivities await us inside your holy Temple. You faithfully answer our prayers with awesome deeds, O God our savior. You are the hope of everyone on earth, even those who sail on distant seas.

From the Past; God of Peace

Philippians 4:8-9

And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me—everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you.

For the Present God of Hope

Romans 15:13

I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.

To the Future God of Glory

Acts 7:1-4

Then the high priest asked Stephen, “Are these accusations true?” This was Stephen’s reply: “Brothers and fathers, listen to me. Our glorious God appeared to our ancestor Abraham in Mesopotamia before he settled in Haran. God told him, ‘Leave your native land and your relatives, and come into the land that I will show you.’ So Abraham left the land of the Chaldeans and lived in Haran until his father died. Then God brought him here to the land where you now live.

Quote of the Day

When a person works an eight-hour day and receives a fair day’s pay for his time that is a wage. When a person competes with an opponent and receives a trophy for his performance that is a prize. When a person receives appropriate recognition for his long service or high achievements that is an award. But when a person is not capable of earning a wage, can win no prize, and deserves no award – yet receives such a gift anyway – that is a good picture of God’s unmerited favour. This is what we mean when we talk about the grace of God.
