Good morning everyone. I praise the Lord for all of my brothers and sisters in Christ as we go into this new day with open minds and grateful hearts. I thank God for those who walked hand in hand for Hunger awareness yesterday in Chicago. May you be fed by this message as I have been fed putting it together for you.
Today’s Prayer
Dear Lord, could it be that You want me to make the first move in restoring a broken relationship because You know that for one, like me, to withdraw and leave another harboring resentments will cause each of us to suffer. Not only will I feel withdrawal from those in opposition to my words, but I will also feel separated from You! Remind me that You desire Your Holy Spirit to flow through me to others! You want me to be Your Christian representative every day, not just on Sundays! You want me to live Your message by my example! With Your help, I know that I can. In Jesus’ wonderful name I pray, Amen.
Let’s eat.
The Eternal Destiny of Man
New Living Translation
Two Roads and Two Ends
Matt. 6:13-27
And don’t let us yield to temptation, but rescue us from the evil one. “If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you. But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins. “And when you fast, don’t make it obvious, as the hypocrites do, for they try to look miserable and disheveled so people will admire them for their fasting. I tell you the truth that is the only reward they will ever get. But when you fast, comb your hair and wash your face. Then no one will notice that you are fasting, except your Father, who knows what you do in private. And your Father, who sees everything, will reward you. “Don’t store up treasures here on earth, where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and where thieves break in and steal. Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal. Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be. “Your eye is a lamp that provides light for your body. When your eye is good, your whole body is filled with light. But when your eye is bad, your whole body is filled with darkness. And if the light you think you have is actually darkness, how deep that darkness is! “No one can serve two masters. For you will hate one and love the other; you will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money. “That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing? Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are? Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?
Two Destinies, Contrasted
1 Peter 4:17-18
For the time has come for judgment, and it must begin with God’s household. And if judgment begins with us, what terrible fate awaits those who have never obeyed God’s Good News? And also, “If the righteous are barely saved, what will happen to godless sinners?”
Rev. 22:14-15
Blessed are those who wash their robes. They will be permitted to enter through the gates of the city and eat the fruit from the tree of life. Outside the city are the dogs—the sorcerers, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idol worshipers, and all who love to live a lie.
Eternal Glory for the Saved
1 Peter 5:10
In his kindness God called you to share in his eternal glory by means of Christ Jesus. So after you have suffered a little while, he will restore, support, and strengthen you, and he will place you on a firm foundation.
2 Tim. 2:10
So I am willing to endure anything if it will bring salvation and eternal glory in Christ Jesus to those God has chosen.
Eternal Woe for the Lost
Mark 9:43
If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It’s better to enter eternal life with only one hand than to go into the unquenchable fires of hell with two hands.
2 Thess. 1:10
When he comes on that day, he will receive glory from his holy people—praise from all who believe. And this includes you, for you believed what we told you about him.
Quote of the Day
Every now and again, Our Lord lets us see what we would be like if it were not for Himself; it is a justification of what He said – “Without Me you can do nothing.” That is why the bedrock of Christianity is personal, passionate devotion to the Lord Jesus.
