1 083013 Yokes

Good morning everyone. Oh give thanks unto the Lord for He is good yes He is good and worthy of all our praise. I was sitting here reflecting on the things that have taken place in my spirit the last few days and the word “yoke” popped into my head. Of course you know that I went to the scriptures to wrap some substance around the single word. Get ready for what I discovered.

TODAY’S PRAYER

Father, I come before you on behalf of those individuals that are part of my house by proclamation. Today, we will serve You by putting Your will ahead of our desires. Today, we will think before we speak or act, asking ourselves, “How would Jesus respond?” Today, we will live out our faith with the help and strength of the Holy Spirit — one day at a time. Help us, for we often forget. In the name of Jesus I pray, Amen and Amen.

Let’s eat.

FIVE YOKES

The Yoke of Sin

Deuteronomy 28:48

you will serve your enemies whom the LORD will send against you. You will be left hungry, thirsty, naked, and lacking in everything. The LORD will put an iron yoke on your neck, oppressing you harshly until he has destroyed you.

Proverbs 5:22

An evil man is held captive by his own sins; they are ropes that catch and hold him.

The Sinner’s Slavery, the Yoke of Bondage

Galatians 5:1
So Christ has truly set us free. Now make sure that you stay free, and don’t get tied up again in slavery to the law.

Acts 15:10

So why are you now challenging God by burdening the Gentile believers with a yoke that neither we nor our ancestors were able to bear?

The Sinner’s Religion, the Yoke of Christ

Lamentations 1:14

“He wove my sins into ropes to hitch me to a yoke of captivity. The Lord sapped my strength and turned me over to my enemies; I am helpless in their hands.

Isaiah 53:6

All of us, like sheep, have strayed away. We have left God’s paths to follow our own. Yet the LORD laid on him the sins of us all.

The Sin-bearer’s Burden, the Yoke of Obedience

Matthew 11:29-30

Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.”

The Saint’s Submission, the Yoke of Service

Philippians 4:3

And I ask you, my true partner, to help these two women, for they worked hard with me in telling others the Good News. They worked along with Clement and the rest of my co-workers, whose names are written in the Book of Life.

1 Timothy 6:1

All slaves should show full respect for their masters so they will not bring shame on the name of God and his teaching.

QUOTE OF THE DAY

The discovery of God lies in the daily and the ordinary, not in the spectacular and the heroic. If we cannot find God in the routines of home and shop, then we will not find Him at all.
