Good day everyone. As I sat in silence this morning, feeling the effect of the physical work I did last evening (aches and pain that come with age), the word “truth” popped into my head so that becomes the topic for today. So put on your bib and get ready.
Today’s Prayer
Father, I come before You this morning on behalf of my brothers and sisters in Christ with a grateful heart and full of praise. Let us pause to take stock of our country, for which so many have given their lives. We thank You for such dedication and for our opportunities, made possible through their sacrifices. As we look around at corruption in high places and at leadership that winks at immorality, let us not take this as license, but rather as a challenge for each of us to guard our own integrity. Remind us that You are our leader – our God – and that our nation will be strengthened or weakened by the actions of each individual citizen, for fear that we be held responsible for our short-sightedness and for the destruction of our nation. Help us to seek Your guidance for our immediate families, and for all other families in America, so that our nation’s direction may be pleasing to You. Thank You Father. In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
Let’s eat.
The Truth of God
The truth declared
Colossians 1:3-6
We always pray for you, and we give thanks to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. For we have heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and your love for all of God’s people, which come from your confident hope of what God has reserved for you in heaven. You have had this expectation ever since you first heard the truth of the Good News. This same Good News that came to you is going out all over the world. It is bearing fruit everywhere by changing lives, just as it changed your lives from the day you first heard and understood the truth about God’s wonderful grace.
Preacher’s Business; The truth believed
2 Thessalonians 2:13-14
As for us, we can’t help but thank God for you, dear brothers and sisters loved by the Lord. We are always thankful that God chose you to be among the first to experience salvation—a salvation that came through the Spirit who makes you holy and through your belief in the truth. He called you to salvation when we told you the Good News; now you can share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Hearer’s Faith; The truth obeyed
1 Peter 1:21-25
Through Christ you have come to trust in God. And you have placed your faith and hope in God because he raised Christ from the dead and gave him great glory. You were cleansed from your sins when you obeyed the truth, so now you must show sincere love to each other as brothers and sisters. Love each other deeply with all your heart. For you have been born again, but not to a life that will quickly end. Your new life will last forever because it comes from the eternal, living word of God. As the Scriptures say, “People are like grass; their beauty is like a flower in the field. The grass withers and the flower fades. But the word of the Lord remains forever.” And that word is the Good News that was preached to you.
Quote of the Day
The Gospel is open to all; the most respectable sinner has no more claim on it than the worst.
