LISTENING AND DOING 10-18-24

As I sat here putting together this message, I was convicted by the very scripture that I’m sending to you. I didn’t strictly adhere to the principles of the scripture just the other day because I let someone provoke me into a shouting match and for this I’m deeply sorry and ask the Lord to for give me. There is tremendous teaching in this meal so please let it minister to your spirit.

Today’s Prayer

Father, help us to remember that even in the depths of our despair, You are there. Help us to remember to rejoice and praise You even then, believing that there is a purpose in everything that happens. Give us the strength to turn our lives over completely to You and to mean it, not dictating answers to our prayers, but being willing to listen and to sincerely put You in charge of our lives. Give us courage to speak honestly in love, not shying away from reality, or lacking the courage to face the painful. Help us to know that You are our only real security and that You will not fail us. Guide us in the paths that we should walk, both for Your sake and for ours. In the matchless name of Jesus we pray, Amen.

Let’s eat.

Listening and Doing

James 1:19-27

19 Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry. 20 Human anger does not produce the righteousness God desires. 21 So get rid of all the filth and evil in your lives, and humbly accept the word God has planted in your hearts, for it has the power to save your souls.

22 But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. 23 For if you listen to the word and don’t obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror. 24 You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like. 25 But if you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don’t forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it.

26 If you claim to be religious but don’t control your tongue, you are fooling yourself, and your religion is worthless. 27 Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you.

Quote of the Day

It is a glorious thing to know that your Father God makes no mistakes in directing or permitting that which crosses the path of your life. It is the glory of God to conceal a matter. It is our glory to trust Him, no matter what. ~Joni Eareckson Tada~
