(CLICK THE PICTURE) Oh give thanks unto the Lord for He is good yes He is good and worthy of our praise. There are so many among us who are hurting and are in a desert place in there lives. The message today is for all who are in that place and can’t get themselves out.
Today’s Prayer
Father, remind us that Christmas can be a happy time for families, or it can be a sad time for those who are alone, separated by miles, or threats of war, or divorce or circumstances. In whatever category we fit, help us to see that we can be as happy as our souls will let us be. The choice is ours, isn’t it? No matter what our circumstances, the choice of attitude is still ours. There are always blessings to be counted. Help us to realize that because Jesus lived, we can receive Your gifts of faith and salvation, and the comfort and guidance of the Holy Spirit – gifts for 365 days of every year, truly the greatest gifts of all. We submit this and all things in the wonderful name of Jesus, Amen.
Let’s eat.
No Manna Stores
Exodus 16:1-5
Then the whole community of Israel set out from Elim and journeyed into the wilderness of Sin, between Elim and Mount Sinai. They arrived there on the fifteenth day of the second month, one month after leaving the land of Egypt. There, too, the whole community of Israel complained about Moses and Aaron. “If only the Lord had killed us back in Egypt,” they moaned. “There we sat around pots filled with meat and ate all the bread we wanted. But now you have brought us into this wilderness to starve us all to death.” Then the Lord said to Moses, “Look, I’m going to rain down food from heaven for you. Each day the people can go out and pick up as much food as they need for that day. I will test them in this to see whether or not they will follow my instructions. On the sixth day they will gather food, and when they prepare it, there will be twice as much as usual.”
When God took the nation of Israel through the desert, there was one thing the people simply couldn’t do outside of God alone: They couldn’t provide for themselves. They couldn’t plant. They couldn’t harvest. They couldn’t manufacture. It was a place and time where nothing but complete dependence on God was the rule. God gave manna one day at a time. The manna spoiled the day after, so they could never store it. They couldn’t go to the manna store to get more. They couldn’t start a manna business to capitalize on all the free manna. I can tell you from personal experience that when God takes you to the desert, there is nothing you can do to change it until He wants to change it, so do not strive against God in the desert place. If He put you there, it’s for His purposes. Learn from it. So many times we ask God for things and situations. When he answers those prayers and they don’t look like what we conceived in our minds, we discount it as not being of God or we start questioning God about how things turned out. The advice I give you today is to stop begging God for so many unnecessary things and be specific about your requests so that when He gives them to you they will be recognized as blessings.
Quote of the Day
The sovereign God wants to be loved for Himself and honored for Himself, but that is only part of what He wants. The other part is that He wants us to know that when we have Him we have everything – we have all the rest.
