This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it. Today as you go about enjoying friends and family, don’t forget to lift up Jesus and also pray for families that have lost love ones who died defending your rights.
Today’s Prayer
Father, on this Memorial day remind us that many men and women of high principles have worked and prayed, and some have sacrificed their lives to preserve the dreams that our founding fathers had for this nation, and You have heard their prayers! Bring us to our senses today before we unknowingly lose all that we have inherited! Someone once remarked that “Christianity has not been tried and found wanting; rather it has not been tried!” Help us to see that those who believe that nothing is worth dying for very probably have no beliefs worth living for! For those of us who believe Jesus when He said, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through Me,”* we ask that You help us to be Your ambassadors, that we may tell others of Your healing love, Your forgiveness, and Your amazing grace! Help us as a nation to realize that You are indeed faithful to Your Word. Help us to return to the faith of our fathers, lest we all become losers and sacrifice the future of our children. In the wonderful name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
Let’s eat.
The Work Of Christ
Christ died to redeem
Titus 2:11-14 –
For the grace of God has been revealed, bringing salvation to all people. And we are instructed to turn from godless living and sinful pleasures. We should live in this evil world with wisdom, righteousness, and devotion to God, while we look forward with hope to that wonderful day when the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, will be revealed. He gave his life to free us from every kind of sin, to cleanse us, and to make us his very own people, totally committed to doing good deeds.
He rose to justify
Romans 4:20-25 –
Abraham never wavered in believing God’s promise. In fact, his faith grew stronger, and in this he brought glory to God. He was fully convinced that God is able to do whatever he promises. And because of Abraham’s faith, God counted him as righteous. And when God counted him as righteous, it wasn’t just for Abraham’s benefit. It was recorded for our benefit, too, assuring us that God will also count us as righteous if we believe in him, the one who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead. He was handed over to die because of our sins, and he was raised to life to make us right with God.
He lives to save
Hebrews 7:20-25 –
This new system was established with a solemn oath. Aaron’s descendants became priests without such an oath, but there was an oath regarding Jesus. For God said to him, “The Lord has taken an oath and will not break his vow: ‘You are a priest forever.’” Because of this oath, Jesus is the one who guarantees this better covenant with God. There were many priests under the old system, for death prevented them from remaining in office. But because Jesus lives forever, his priesthood lasts forever. Therefore he is able, once and forever, to save those who come to God through him. He lives forever to intercede with God on their behalf.
He comes to glorify
Colossians 3:1-4 –
Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand. Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God. And when Christ, who is your life, is revealed to the whole world, you will share in all his glory.
Quote of the Day
We implore the mercy of God, not that He may leave us at peace in our vices, but that He may deliver us from them. ~Blaise Pascal~
