Greetings to everyone on this fresh new day, which happens to be the first Tuesday in the month of December. Oh give thanks unto the Lord for he is good, yes he is good. He woke us up this morning and started us on our way. Thank You Lord.
Today’s Prayer
Father, as we get immersed in making material improvements, help us to remember to continually seek Your will and Your guidance. Remind us not to run ahead of You, or to confuse our “wants” with our “needs.” Let us not forget that our first concern should be how best to encourage people to build a relationship with You, and to grow in their faith. Let all that we do in both our material expansion and our spiritual growth be to Your honor and Your glory. Let us each ask ourselves, “Today, would any one have known that I was a believer? Have I told any one about Jesus? It’s in His wonderful name we pray this, Amen.
Let’s eat.
Staying Connected
Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in You. Show me the way I should go, for to You I lift up my soul. – Psalm 143:8
Those of you who have been receiving messages from me for any amount of time know that there are three great inventions that I use all the time, my laptop computer, social media and e-mail. The laptop means I no longer have to stay in one place to be productive in my business and spiritual life. Social media and E-mail have allowed me to stay connected to people all around the world with the touch of a button.
A source of some my greatest frustration is when any of these doesn’t work. Sometimes e-mail and social media can’t be used because I can’t get a connection. Sometimes I can’t use my laptop because I haven’t properly charged it, and then the charge runs out while I am in an area where I can’t just plug it in and leave it to charge up. Both of these situations mean I am unable to tap into the resource that allows me to fulfill my calling in life to the fullest.
My morning time with God is an opportunity to plug into my power source in order to be able to function. God pours His Word into my spirit and I am recharged. This recharging has an important effect on my day. It allows me the greatest opportunity to hear the still small voice that directs my steps. I then try to adequately relay the information to all of you. If I refuse to “get connected,” I risk following my own ways of fulfilling the duties of the day and mess everything up. It sets forth the opportunity for God to speak into my spirit what He desires for me each day. It allows me to focus on God’s purposes, not mine.
So what I’m sharing with you today is the only way to know someone is to spend time with him or her. The only way to discern the voice of another is to hear that person’s voice. David, the author of the psalm verse I used today, was a warrior, king, and businessman. He understood this principle of connecting with God in the morning. His morning allowed him to connect with God’s love, renew his trust in Him, and hear His directions for his life. Now doesn’t it make sense that you and I do the same? Are you connected to the power source?
