THE BENEFITS OF WISDOM 08-03-24

Rejoice in the Lord always and again I say rejoice. I blogged earlier this week on purpose and wisdom. Today I’m sharing about the benefits that come with this practice. What will you do with your opportunity today?

Today’s Prayer

Father, in these days of political correctness, when it is sometimes difficult for some to publicly acknowledge their Christian faith, when at times, some “Christians” find it easier to water down their faith and are willing to define “love” as accepting “other gods” as equal to You, give them courage. Give them wisdom to delve more deeply into Your Word, to seek the Holy Spirit’s guidance that they may know Your truth. Open their eyes that You may reveal to them an understanding of Your justice — that You alone are sovereign, and that they are to have no other God but You! Your justice is fair, for You do indeed punish sinners as You have said You would, while Your mercy is voluntary, for You alone understand the “heart.” Teach them, O Lord, and help them to bring their hearts into alignment with Your will. In  the wonderful name of Jesus I pray, Amen.

Let’s eat.

The Benefits of Wisdom

Proverbs 2

1 My child, listen to me and treasure my instructions.

2 Tune your ears to wisdom, and concentrate on understanding.

3 Cry out for insight and understanding.

4 Search for them as you would for lost money or hidden treasure.

5 Then you will understand what it means to fear the LORD, and you will gain knowledge of God.

6 For the LORD grants wisdom! From his mouth come knowledge and understanding.

7 He grants a treasure of good sense to the godly. He is their shield, protecting those who walk with integrity.

8 He guards the paths of justice and protects those who are faithful to him.

9 Then you will understand what is right, just, and fair, and you will know how to find the right course of action every time.

10 For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will fill you with joy.

11 Wise planning will watch over you. Understanding will keep you safe.

12 Wisdom will save you from evil people, from those whose speech is corrupt.

13 These people turn from right ways to walk down dark and evil paths.

14 They rejoice in doing wrong, and they enjoy evil as it turns things upside down.

15 What they do is crooked, and their ways are wrong.

16 Wisdom will save you from the immoral woman, from the flattery of the adulterous woman.

17 She has abandoned her husband and ignores the covenant she made before God.

18 Entering her house leads to death; it is the road to hell.

19 The man who visits her is doomed. He will never reach the paths of life.

20 Follow the steps of good men instead, and stay on the paths of the righteous.

21 For only the upright will live in the land, and those who have integrity will remain in it.

22 But the wicked will be removed from the land, and the treacherous will be destroyed.

Quote of the Day

You know, Lord, how I serve you with great emotional ferver in the limelight. You know how eagerly I speak for you at a Women’s Club. You know my genuine enthusiasm at a Bible study. But how would I react, I wonder, if you pointed to a basin of water and asked me to wash the calloused feet of a bent and wrinkled old woman day after day, month after month, in a room where nobody saw and nobody knew? ~Ruth Harms Calkin~
