This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it. What are your directions from our Father for the day? Did you ask? We are going to get a small lesson on Proverbs today.
Today’s Prayer
Father, remind us that if we are to call ourselves truly committed Christian, then we must not leave our Christianity on the church doorstep when we leave the Sunday service. Help us see that we must stand for You in all of our daily dealings — secular, political and personal. If we don’t stand on Your Word, how will others see You in us? However, there is more, isn’t there, Lord? You want us to go and tell others about You. Otherwise, even though we may live a kind and caring life, no one will know that it is because of You and Your help. You are the “GOOD NEWS,” You are the message that God the Father sent. Help us, Lord, to be open to Your leading. Give us the wisdom, and the words, and the courage to know what to say and when to say it, so that others may desire to know You. In Jesus’ holy name we pray, Amen.
Let’s eat.
The Purpose of Proverbs
Proverbs 1:1-7
1 These are the proverbs of Solomon, David’s son, king of Israel.
2 The purpose of these proverbs is to teach people wisdom and discipline, and to help them understand wise sayings.
3 Through these proverbs, people will receive instruction in discipline, good conduct, and doing what is right, just, and fair.
4 These proverbs will make the simpleminded clever. They will give knowledge and purpose to young people.
5 Let those who are wise listen to these proverbs and become even wiser. And let those who understand receive guidance
6 by exploring the depth of meaning in these proverbs, parables, wise sayings, and riddles.
7 Fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge. Only fools despise wisdom and discipline.
***** During the month of august, it would be a great chance to dig into the book of proverbs to expand your spiritual wisdom.
Quote of the Day
So many times Christians are divided by forms of worship. We are divided by cultural, racial, generational, national, and denominational methods of worship. However, our unity as Christians will never be found in the exterior form of worship, but in the essence of our worship. Worship is rooted in who Jesus is. I am convinced that if we focus on Him, we will better love and appreciate on another … It is the love that flows from the Lamb of God that brings us together and makes us one. ~Sammy Tippit~
