The Word 10-04-19

Good day everyone. Oh give thanks unto the Lord for He is good yes He is good and worthy of our praise. Today it’s the Word, the Word, The word, that will move us forward.

Today’s Prayer

Father, “we asked for health, that we might do greater things; we were given infirmity that we might do better things.” Sometimes it takes an infirmity to make us slow down enough to turn to You. When one is side-tracked, then one has the time to contemplate one’s life and its direction. Help us to see that our lives have too often been like driving in the fast lane. We have sped along without looking at a map, so caught up in our own thoughts and everyday demands that we haven’t had time to realize where we are headed. We wanted to do “greater things,” but now You have let infirmity force us to take time-out. Inspire us to use this time of recovery to see how we might serve You better. Help us to slow down and sort out the important from the merely self-serving things. Show us how to make our lives more meaningful, that others may be encouraged to know You. Thank You, Lord, for this lesson and for Your patience. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Let’s eat.

What the Word Does

Life imparted by the Word

1 Peter 1:21-23

Through Christ you have come to trust in God. And you have placed your faith and hope in God because he raised Christ from the dead and gave him great glory. You were cleansed from your sins when you obeyed the truth, so now you must show sincere love to each other as brothers and sisters. Love each other deeply with all your heart. For you have been born again, but not to a life that will quickly end. Your new life will last forever because it comes from the eternal, living word of God.

Receive it, Life nourished by the Word

1 Peter 2:2-3

Like newborn babies, you must crave pure spiritual milk so that you will grow into a full experience of salvation. Cry out for this nourishment, now that you have had a taste of the Lord’s kindness.

Feed on it Ways, cleansed by the Word

Ps. 119:9

How can a young person stay pure? By obeying your word.

Use it, Path enlightened by the Word

Ps. 119:105-106

Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path. I’ve promised it once, and I’ll promise it again: I will obey your righteous regulations.

Quote of the Day

We should not ask, “What is wrong with the world?” for that diagnosis has already been given. Rather, we should ask, “What has happened to the salt and light?”
